don’t settle for an either/or mindset

Stress and anxiety often force us into thinking in black and white, where everything is “either/or.” What if you could live in the freedom of “both/and?” At both and therapy group, we work to guide you through your mental health journey no matter what you are facing.

both and therapy group is made up of five licensed therapists with a diverse range of specialties and interests who would love to assist you in your journey. Together, we can work toward living in the freedom of the “both/and” perspective.

Do you ever feel like you are wearing a mask? After another long day of pretending, you break down, realizing how lonely you are & feel like nobody even cares. You have friends but you feel like you have no one to talk to about what is going on in your head. You feel stuck. You feel isolated. You want to feel safe, seen, and heard.

I provide an environment that feels supportive, non-judgmental, comfortable, & collaborative. Together we will explore your experiences, behaviors, & beliefs. With the benefit of fresh insight, you will be able to identify patterns that are holding you back from health & happiness while gaining the strength & strategies to overcome them.

I primarily work with teens & young adults, & tailor my approach to the client’s individual needs instead of blanket approaches. I commonly treat issues related to anxiety, self-esteem, family dynamics, boundaries, communication, & relationships. I also welcome clients aiming for self-exploration & growth, or utilizing therapy as self-care.

Life is too short to ask yourself “What if”. It is easy to find ourselves wrestling with the disconnection of former or current relationships in our lives. Perhaps you are finding yourself stuck spinning in the hamster wheel of "What ifs" in your head. Unfortunately, these thoughts are where we can find some of our greatest discomfort in our day to day. C.S Lewis once said, "You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” With my help, you can unpack your beginning and create the kind of change where you say “Damn, this feels good! I think I like where this is headed!"

My approach is compassionate but honest. I will create a trusting relationship with you where I can encourage and empower you, but also challenge you in the same. Accessibility to services is important to me, which is why I offer night and weekend availability along with a sliding scale fee.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a case manager for 8 years for two different agencies. During that time, I spent my days in and out of different family’s homes making connections with them and their communities. These connections are the foundation in which I built my love for therapy on and am excited to be able to share that with you.

What is this therapy thing all about? It’s simple and hard at the same time and can be the best decision you’ll ever make for yourself.

You talk, I listen. And together we open up the possibilities. We will explore what makes you who you are, and then decide what you want to keep and want you’d like to change.

The work looks similar if it’s just you or if it’s you and your partner. The goal is to help you feel closer to your authentic self while being able to love those around you in a deeper, more meaningful way.

If you’re in a relationship and you no longer feel the spark, we will work towards building and re-building the connection that you used to have. If anger and resentment are getting in the way, we unpack where the anger came from and shine light on the possibilities.

I’ve been told that I’ve been a “helper” and advocate since before I could walk and talk. That’s what I want to be for you - an advocate for your self-worth, for your relationships and for finding your fulfillment in life.

My passion is helping people discover their self-worth. I love to support children, teens, and adults as they find their “pockets of joy” in a life that is full of both beauty and pain. I truly enjoy aiding children as they work through their inner world and strengthen relationships with their family and peers.

When I have some free time, you can find me on my yoga mat, exploring local trails with my little dog, Biggie Smalls, dancing to live music (usually in my living room), and sampling new local food with friends. I never miss a KU basketball game and, am a regular at Royals’ and Chiefs’ games.

One of the most important things I learned in my own personal therapy sessions is that no one should go through difficult times alone. It’s too easy for isolation and shame to set in … which then makes reaching out that much harder. Trust me, I’ve been there, and I get it. The key is knowing when it’s time to reach out; this can make all the difference. Maybe it’s time. I’d like to be part of what helps you move into a more positive and healing direction.

You’re so worth the effort.

I work with people whose lives have been interrupted or turned upside-down in unwelcome ways. Or maybe things simply feel “off” in your life, and you’re unable to figure it out alone. I want to hear your story. My goal is that, together, we can explore your history and find out what got you to where you are today. Many times, this results in a new level of clarity (one of my favorite words) which can open different possibilities and perspectives.
